Current Aussies

Fairoaks Sunset Lager CGC, ASCA/AKC CD , AKC CDX

(Fairoaks Atreyu STDd, OTDsc x Boothill's Ronita of Fairoaks)

Red male with white and copper trim, Born: 5-19-96, eyes clear 99, neutered,  22" and 45 lbs.

Foster was purchased as a pet quality dog, but turned out to be a fantastic performance dog as well.   He has gentle, loyal personality and is always by my side.  He has shown some basic skill in herding but we did not start him early enough and I don't have time to train him seriously  He has his AKC CDX and we were ready for UD trials but couldn't quite get the scent work down and I had to retire him due to time constraints.   He learned most things in 2-3 tries and really tries to please me.  He was never friendly with other dogs and that was a bit of a hassle at dogshows.  In the last few years he has become very territorial and does growl and lunge at strangers, including children, so we keep him locked away when guests come to visit.  Unfortunately, this is probably because he did not have place to socialize with people and dogs when young; now that we have a dogpark in town...future pups won't have to suffer this same fate.  SOCIALIZE YOUR AUSSIE PUPS!

In evaluating an Aussie (so you can see why Foster is "pet quality") you can take note of a few things; Foster has a common head problem...a bit long in muzzle and just slightly narrow across the top.   His rear legs lack some angulation, but do fit his body nicely. His bone is just a bit too slight for conformation ring success, but is perfect for his body type, allowing him great topline and great movement; so he'd be able to work all day as needed in working breed.  His feet are also just a tad bit too long, not as compact as they ought to be.  His good points include nice rich red color, nice moderate coat, complete set of teeth with scissor bite, good shape to eyes, nice topline, great movement, eyes are clear, etc.

Fairoaks Midnight Stout Tigger

(Fairoaks Atreyu STDd, OTDsc x Boothill's Ronita of Fairoaks)

Black female with white trim, Born: 12-22-96, eyes clear 99, spayed,19.5" and 50 lbs.

Hips did turn out to be dysplastic, even though her parents hips are fine.  They have only started to bother her since she turned 9 and even then only occasionally. We did retire her from agility training but she can still run down a frisbee with joy.

Elsie was purchased as pet quality dog with possible conformation ability, but we decided she had enough flaws that we wouldn't bother with the conformation ring, so she is kept busy with agility classes.   She has one leg of her AKC CD  but we're not sure if she'll ever be obedience-directed as the concept of staying in one place for more than a second just doesn't enter her mind.   This is a girl who has a will of her own and believes she's a princess who should be worshipped even when she misbehaves....which is quite often!

In evaluating her conformation --  She is a bit cow-hocked in back, which wouldn't hurt her working ability, etc. but doesn't set up very well in ring.  Her only other real fault is her front which is a bit easty-westy at feet and didn't come in as we hoped when her chest dropped.  Otherwise, she is well put together, has nice topline, adequate movement and nice head.  Her personality would have helped her quite a bit in ring as she is a "you must look at ME" kind of dog!

The dogs pull a cart that my three daughters can ride in.

As you can tell, I am not breeding dogs currently...but I hope to begin within the next 7-10 years...and I plan to use old-style working lines from breeders who are interested in genetic health and responsible breeding programs.
